MASN color analyst F.P. Santangelo has signed a contract to return for the 2014 season, a person familiar with the situation said. The sides had been in negotiations since the end of the season, and Santangelo was expected to come back for his fourth season in Washington.

Santangelo has broadcast Nationals games alongside play-by-play voice Bob Carpenter since 2011. Earlier this offseason, MASN picked up their option to bring Carpenter back in 2014. With his energetic style and unapologetic support of the home team, Santangelo has quickly become a part of the franchise’s outward identity.

Santangelo, 46, played for four teams over a seven-year major league career as a scrappy utility player.
