Nationals name Valerie J. Camillo chief revenue and marketing officer

The Nationals named Valerie J. Camillo,  a former NBA marketing and business executive, the team’s new chief revenue and marketing officer on Tuesday. Camillo, a Washingto- area native, essentially fills the void created by the September departure of Andy Feffer, who left his position as the team’s chief operating officer and spearheaded promotional and marketing efforts.

According to the Nationals, Camillo will be responsible for all revenue-generating departments, including ticketing, marketing, special events and corporate partnerships. She will begin her new role on February 18.

Camillo recently spent three years as the vice president with the NBA’s Team Marketing and Business Operations (TMBO) group, which serves as a liaison between the league office and the teams of the NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League. She was involved with the day-to-day dealings of team’s ticket sales, service, marketing, premium and sponsorship.

Before joining the NBA, Camillo was a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton and also worked at IBM Consulting/PriceWaterhouseCooper. Camillo grew up in Oakton and attended Madison High. She earned her bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Virginia.

“Valerie brings a unique skill set and invaluable experience that will enhance the Nationals organization and build upon the great foundation we have already established,” said Alan H. Gottlieb, Lerner Sports Chief Operating Officer, in the team-issued statement. “We expect great things for Nationals fans, both on and off the field, and we think Valerie is the right person to help lead our business and continue to provide our fans with the ultimate ballpark experience.”

James Wagner joined the Post in August 2010 and, prior to covering the Nationals, covered high school sports across the region.
