Doug Fister makes his second start of the season. In his debut this past weekend in Oakland, he allowed sevens runs, five earned, and gave up three home runs over 4 1/3 innings. Manager Matt Williams kept a strict eye on Fister’s pitch count. He pushed Fister an extra inning despite the Nationals’ deficit to ensure that the right-hander hit a higher workload. On Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Williams said Fister’s start will be more normal and won’t have a firmer pitch limit. He will be opposed by Diamondbacks starter Brandon McCarthy (1-6, 5.66 ERA). The lineups are here. As always, discuss the game below.
