Tonight’s Nationals-Braves lineups

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

In the first game of the biggest series this season between the Nationals and Braves, Jayson Werth is out of the lineup. Werth has been battling a sore right shoulder and ankle. Werth played all of Thursday’s 13-inning marathon after he exited in the sixth inning Wednesday night.

To compensate, Manager  Matt Williams moved Anthony Rendon to third, Werth’s spot, and bumped Asdrubal Cabrera to second. Steven Souza Jr. will receive the second start of his career in Werth’s place.

The Braves are without Andrelton Simmons, who sprained his left ankle on Tuesday and missed Wednesday’s game.
