KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia — Heather McPhie will join fellow American Hannah Kearney in the finals of the women’s moguls late Saturday night. Competing in her second Olympics, McPhie, 29, posted a score of 18.85 in a qualifying run on Saturday evening, good enough for sixth place and sending her to the next round.

The top 10 finishers in Saturday’s qualifying round advanced to the finals. Saturday’s run marked the second of two qualification rounds. On Thursday, 10 skiers automatically advanced to the first round of the finals, led by Kearney, who posted the highest first-round score, 23.05. American Eliza Outtrim also qualified for the finals Thursday.

The field has now been whittled to 20 skiers. The finals consists of three stages and the field will shrink to 12 in the second and then six in the medal round.

The top score in Saturday’s qualifying round belonged to Russian Ekaterina Stolyarova, who posted a score of 21.32.
