Patrick Deneen missed out on his first first chance to qualify for the finals of the men’s moguls competition. The highly touted American freestyle skier lost control before his second second jump and hit a flag on the course, spoiling his first run. His score of 10.36 was the 25th in a 26-man field.
Deneen, who won the 2009 world championship and reached the final round in the 2010 Olympics, will have one more chance to advance in a second qualification round, which begins shortly.
Bradley Wilson was the lone American to advance past the qualification round. His score of 21.68 was the sixth best of the round.
