Two shifts into his 2014 Sochi Olympics debut, Alex Ovechkin already has a goal and an assist, and Russia leads Slovenia, 2-0, near the midpoint of the first period at the Bolshoi Ice Dome. Ovechkin scored the game’s first goal, from his favorite spot near the left face-off circle, on a feed from Evgeni Malkin. The goal came 77 seconds into the game. Less than three minutes later, Malkin, off a pass from Ovechkin, broke free and scored.
