American figure skater Polina Edmunds skated impressively in the short program Wednesday, and through 17 skaters the 15-year-old was second only to Olympic favorite Kim Yu-na. With another 15-year-old phenom, Julia Lipnitskaia, set to take center stage in skating later in the day, it’s safe to say the 15-year-olds are certainly having their day.
Having young Olympians excel can raise a country’s spirits. But it can also make normal, hard-working people feel a little underachieving.
