What to do with kids in DC this weekend

It’s springtime, and we will finally feel it this weekend. (Let’s not talk about the weather next week, shall we?)

So make sure to get out and enjoy the longer days. Here are a few happenings this weekend in the area, both indoors and out.

The circus is here. Check out the excitement of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey at the Verizon Center starting Thursday.

To remind yourself that spring is here (I’m telling you, it is!), head to the National Cherry Blossom Festival Family Days event at the Building Museum. The two-day festival includes crafts, indoor and outdoor performances, and an appearance by the Nationals’ racing presidents.

This week’s free play at National Theatre is sure to entertain kids, particularly if they are history buffs. In the interactive (free!) show “Jack’s Adventure,” audience members can help draft a new Constitution and meet historic figures.

If it’s cherry blossom time, then it’s also kite season. You and your kids can learn about kites and even make one of your own at National Air and Space Museum Saturday.
