Since this blog covers the country and since a (really small) portion of this country watches late-night television comedy shows, a quick note: Stephen Colbert, currently the host of “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central, will take over “The Late Show” after David Letterman retires.

Emily Yahr has more here, and you can expect additional updates from her and others soon.

I could write about what this means — on the one hand, another white guy hosting a late-night network comedy show; on the other hand, Colbert is quite wonderful — but over the coming hours and days, roughly 80 percent of the Internet will be Colbert-related stuff, so I’m just going to say that Stephen Colbert is a very good television host and a very funny individual and leave it at that.
