Investigators are looking into a shooting that occurred Tuesday night at the Fort Hood military installation in Texas, the Army said Wednesday.
The shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Liberty Village housing area’s basketball court, not on the main post, according to Fort Hood officials. A man who is not affiliated with the Defense Department was allegedly assaulted and shot by an unidentified individual or individuals after an argument, the officials said.
This man was taken to an area hospital. Fort Hood officials did not release any additional information on his status and said no additional details would be released while the investigation is ongoing.
Agents from the Army’s Criminal Investigation Command and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are looking into the shooting, which occurred just two months after an Army specialist shot and killed four people, including himself, after an argument over paperwork.
Military police at Fort Hood responded to the shooting. Fort Hood authorities said at the time that the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident that didn’t put other residents in danger.
