Two men carjacked an SUV in Philadelphia on Friday morning and drove it into a crowd, killing at least three people and seriously injuring several others.

The Philadelphia Police Department said that the episode occurred Friday morning at around 11:20 a.m. A woman was driving a white Toyota 4Runner about a mile away from the campus of Temple University when the two men carjacked her.

They then drove the car to the intersection of Germantown and West Allegheny avenues in north Philadelphia, hitting a group of pedestrians, police said. The two men then left the scene on foot and, as of Friday evening, remained at large; police were offering a reward for information that resulted in their capture.

Two children were pronounced dead, police said, while several other people hit by the car were taken to hospitals in the area in critical condition. The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that a third child died, and that all three — ages seven, 10 and 15 — were selling fruit at a stand near the intersection to raise money for their church.
