Convicted felon Jeremy Meeks was arrested on June 18, 2014, during a gang sweep in Stockton, Calif.

You likely wouldn’t have heard a word about the arrest of a man police called “one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area,” but for the fact that his mugshot went viral after the Stockton Police Department posted it on Facebook.

Meeks was facing multiple felony weapons charges, but his case was turned over to federal prosecutors.

On Thursday, he was sentenced to more than two years in prison, according to Sacramento’s CBS affiliate.

From KOVR:

The sentencing came in federal court. According to U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner’s office, Meeks was convicted of one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was then given a 27-month prison sentence.

Further, the judge also ordered Meeks to participate in the 500-Hour Bureau of Prisons Substance Abuse Treatment Program.

Alas, there were no photos from the sentencing.

(That wasn’t the case in July, though. See: ‘Hot mugshot guy’ Jeremy Meeks got some bad news in court today. (But there are photos!)
