Things have gotten so bad that Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was forced to deliver some real talk to the citizenry, specifically warning the knuckleheads who have been jumping out of their windows and into the snow to cut it out.
“I’m asking people to stop their nonsense right now. These are adults jumping out windows,” Walsh said on Monday, according to the Boston Herald. “It’s a foolish thing to do and you could kill yourself.”
To understand why this is even a thing, we turn to Walsh once again. Boston, he noted, has been buried under 96 inches of snow (and counting) so far this winter. The city is just a few inches away from the all-time record — a record that literally no one wants to beat.
Believe it or not, the city could get even more snow in the coming week. As tempting as it is to jump out of your window at the prospect of more snow, though, just don’t. You’ll only make things worse.
“We’re asking people to act responsibly in the city of Boston,” Walsh said. “This isn’t Loon Mountain, this is the city of Boston, where we’re trying to remove snow off of the street, and it becomes very dangerous. And the last thing we want to do is respond to an emergency call where somebody jumped out of the window because they thought it was a funny thing to do.”
We’re sure Walsh meant no offense to the actual Loon Mountain. It’s a fine New Hampshire ski resort — which, incidentally, was CLOSED on Monday because it was WAY TOO COLD.
But let’s let Loon Mountain be Loon Mountain, and we’ll leave Boston to be Boston:
