Puerto Rico Gov. Luis Fortuno took to the stage Wednesday to tell the crowd what his territory shares with the United States.

"Over 200,000 Puerto Ricans have served in uniform to defend our nation and the freedom we hold so dear," Fortuno said. "Like in your home states, we raise and salute the American flag. Just like our fellow citizens in Florida or Virginia, we share the same undying spirit that all Americans have."

Notably, the Republican National Committee platform favors statehood for Puerto Rico, which Fortuno supports, but not the District of Columbia.
