San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro was stopped repeatedly by delegates and other picture-taking well-wishers as he made his way to a Latinos Unidos party after his keynote speech on Tuesday.

"Oh, he is so cute, so nice," said one delegate after Castro stopped to have a photo taken with her.

The mayor said the experience was a thrill, and that the whole time he was at the podium, "I just thought about my daughter and my mother and grandmother and it just made it easier to speak."

Asked if the president had called him afterward, Castro said: "I don't know. My phone died."
