An Obama campaign official said the president personally intervened Wednesday to strengthen the party platform's language on Jerusalem, ensuring the change would be made.
The new language reads, “Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.”
According to the L.A. Times, Obama also objected to the removal of language referencing Americans' "God-given potential," asking, "Why was it changed in the first place?" That language has been reinstated.
