The Fix offers four reasons why President Obama gave such a lame performance in Wednesday night's debate with Mitt Romney. But the oddest theory comes from former vice president Al Gore:

"I'm going to say something controversial here," Gore told Current TV, the network he co-founded. "Obama arrived in Denver at 2 pm today, just a few hours before the debate started. Romney did his debate prep in Denver. When you go to 5,000 feet and you only have a few hours to adjust, I don't know."

Conservatives are having a field day with this idea, of course. The Daily Caller's Matt Lewis, however, notes that he suggested early on that the air could play a role.

According to the Denver Post, Denver has 17 percent less oxygen than cities at sea level.       Whatever happened to Obama on Wednesday night, he appears to be doing much better today.
