Mitt Romney called a Philadelphia high school student who says she was mocked by her geometry teacher for wearing a Romney t-shirt in class.

Romney campaign spokeswoman Kate Meriwether told The Philadelphia Inquirer that the candidate called 16-year-old Samantha Pawlucy on Wednesday.

Pawlucy's parents are planning to transfer her and her two siblings to another school because returning to Charles Carroll High was too uncomfortable. Teacher Lynette Gaymon is on leave pending a district investigation.

In a letter read by the principal to students, Gaymon said her comments were intended to be “light and humorous” and that she “never meant to belittle” the student.
