Asked on CNN Thursday about Republicans who argue that Mitt Romney lost because he was not a true conservative, retiring Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Ohio), replied, "Crap. That's nonsense."

"The Republican party cannot be a national party if we give up the entire East Coast of the United States," he added. "We have the right message on the finances. We have to get out of people’s lives, get out of people’s bedrooms and we have to be a national party, or else we’re going to lose.”

When he announced his retirement in July, the moderate Republican lamented that members were “more interested in fighting with each other than getting the no-brainers done and governing.”
