House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told her colleagues Wednesday that she will remain atop the Democratic caucus for at least two more years, people inside the meeting said. Pelosi signaled her intention to continue to be the leading liberal voice opposing Republicans, despite a second straight election in which her party failed to win back the House majority.

Pelosi, in a meeting with House Democrats, told her colleagues that she felt compelled to remain in leadership because the issues Congress is set to tackle are at the core of why she first ran for office, according to Democrats in the room.
