Gen. David Petraeus has arrived at the U.S. Capitol to give testimony about the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in closed briefings to the House and Senate intelligence committees.

Petraeus was not seen by reporters who had staked out parts of the Capitol complex they thought he might pass, but a spokeswoman for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence said he had arrived and would begin his testimony shortly after 7:30 a.m.

The general is scheduled to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee later Friday.
