Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), incoming chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, has named Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.) as his deputy.
"Lynn is savvy, thoughtful and a hard worker," Walden said in a statement. "He knows what it takes to win elections. Together, with the help of our Republican colleagues, we will pick up seats in 2014."
Westmoreland led the party's redistricting efforts in the wake of the 2010 census, helping Republicans retain a large majority in the House despite losing the poplar vote.
