Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) didn't ignore the elephant in the room as the two 2016 presidential prospects addressed the Jack Kemp Foundation Leadership Award dinner in Washington.

Rubio received Leadership Award, which was given to Ryan in 2011.

“You’re joining an elite group of past recipients for this award — two of us, so far,” Ryan told Rubio at the top of his keynote speech. “I’ll see you at the reunion dinner — table for two. Know any good diners in Iowa or New Hampshire?”

Rubio returned the early-primary humor in his remarks.

“Paul, thank you for your invitation for lunch in Iowa or New Hampshire, but I will not stand by and see the people of South Carolina ignored!" he said.

Both men covered more pressing matters for Congress and the GOP in their remarks, which you can read about here.
