National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre will give his first interview since last week's mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. Sunday on "Meet the Press."

The major gun lobby has been very quiet since the shooting as Congress and the Obama administration prepare a push for stricter gun-control laws. The organization suspended social media activity and refused media requests for days. Four days after the shooting, the NRA released a statement promising “meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.”

The statement also announced that the NRA will hold a news conference Friday in Washington.

Since then, the group's Twitter account has noted Obama's support for "gun control measures" without comment.
