House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Monday night that she will present the fiscal cliff deal to House Democrats as soon as it's approved by the upper chamber.

“I understand at the present time, Senate Democrats are meeting with the Vice President," Pelosi said in a statement. "When a final agreement is reached and passed by the Senate, I will present it to the House Democratic Caucus."

The deal already has the top House Democrat's blessing, according to some reports. With House Republicans under pressure from their right flank to oppose the proposal -- and with House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) having failed to secure enough GOP votes to pass a more conservative alternative of his own -- the support of Pelosi and House Democrats could prove pivotal to the measure's passage.
