No sooner had we deleted our “Mitt’s VP” app than a new smartphone app has taken its place – the Inaugural 2013 app.

The app, produced by the Presidential Inaugural Committee, is one of two new inauguration-themed mobile programs to be released Monday morning. The other – an app created by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies -- is set to be unveiled by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) at the Capitol at 10 a.m.

In addition to providing a livestream of inaugural proceedings, a schedule of the day’s events and links to photos and videos, the Presidential Inaugural Committee app allows Inauguration Day visitors to search for event access points, first aid booths and yes, portable toilets, on a map that is stored offline so that information remains accessible in the event that the cell phone circuits become overloaded.

Users can also search for volunteer events in their neighborhood keyed to Sunday’s “National Day of Service,” and share information with others via Twitter, Facebook, e-mail and text message.
