LeBron James at the White House: ‘Mama, I made it’

President Obama recognized the reigning NBA champion Miami Heat on Monday in a ceremony featuring the most star power the White House has hosted since... last Monday.

"Now, for many of teams that come here, this is a lot of cameras in one place," Obama said. "It’s a little overwhelming. But for the Heat, this is what practice looks like."

But according to the White House transcripts and the team's posts on social media, even the most famous players were wowed by the setting.

"This is like, hey, mama, I made it," James said during the ceremony.

A few prominent Heat and basketball fans from Washington were also at the event, including Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.), and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice.
