Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.), whose wife says he is running for Senate, will announce his plans within the next week.
Paul and Niki Broun made a surprise appearance at a Georgia C.H.A.R.G.E (Citizens Helping America Restore Government Ethics) meeting Tuesday night, Republican consultant Andrew O'Shea reports. Niki Broun went on to announce that her husband was announcing his campaign for the seat held by retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.).
Broun's office says that nothing is official yet, but that he will make his plans known within the next week.
Other potential Republican candidates include former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel (who also spoke at the C.H.A.R.G.E. meeting), Rep. Tom Price and Rep. Lynn Westmoreland. Former governor Sonny Perdue has said that he will not compete for the seat.
