Those wondering what Paul Ryan thought of President Obama's State of the Union would do well to ask the lawmaker who has been serving as the Wisconsin Republican's wingman throught the presidential address -- Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.).

Roskam, like Ryan, is a young rising star within House GOP ranks. He was seated next to Ryan at the House GOP leadership table on the right-hand side of the chamber, and the former GOP vice-presidential nominee turned to him more than a dozen times through the State of the Union to comment on the president's remarks.

There were times, however, when Ryan, Roskam and most other House Republicans were silent -- such as when Obama called for action to combat climate change.
