Comedian Stephen Colbert will host a second congressional fundraiser for his sister in Charleston, S.C., according to a fundraising e-mail from the South Carolina Democratic Party.
It was previously reported that Colbert would raise money in New York on Feb. 22 for Elizabeth Colbert Busch (D), who is running for Sen. Tim Scott's (R-S.C.) old House seat.
After the New York fundraiser, Colbert will travel to his home town, Charleston, seeking to raise money at a bowling alley and then at the private home of a supporter.
General admission costs $250, while people can attend a private reception for $1,000 or $2,600. Attending the private dinner costs $5,200.
The fundraiser invitation comes complete with a mostly serious but partially funny note from the comedian.
"Lulu and I have been through a lot together, and I know she is a bright, competent, caring woman who will work hard on behalf of all the citizens of South Carolina's 1st Congressional District," Colbert says in the e-mail. "There are three Democrats and sixteen Republicans running in the Primary, including former Governor and renowned hike-lover Mark Sanford. Our chances look good."
