Vice President Biden will travel to Danbury, Conn., later this week to promote the gun-control agenda crafted by the Obama administration in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

Biden will deliver remarks at an event on Thursday at Western Connecticut State University, 10 miles  from the site of the Newtown, Conn., shooting. Co-hosting the event are Connecticut Democratic Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D), who represents the congressional district that includes Danbury and Newtown.

The event comes on the heels of a Tuesday Facebook town hall event with Biden and Parents Magazine.

Biden has been working both in the public eye and behind closed doors to rally support for the administration’s efforts to reduce gun violence.

Last week, while in Colorado for a family vacation, the vice president personally telephoned several Democratic members of the state House to urge them to support a quartet of gun-control measures making their way through the chamber. The measures passed the state House on Monday and now head to the state Senate.
