Add Paul Ryan to the list of targets for President Obama's charm offensive.

The House Budget Committee chairman and former GOP vice presidential nominee told reporters Wednesday that he had received a call from the president this week.

Ryan declined to discuss the conversation, but the call comes amid an aggressive campaign by Obama to persuade Republicans to reopen talks over a big deficit deal that would raise taxes as well as cut popular health and retirement programs.
