Former senator Norm Coleman (R-Minn.), who had already ruled out a rematch with Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) in 2014, said in a tweet late Thursday night that he won't run for any other office either.

There had been some speculation that Coleman might challenge Gov. Mark Dayton (D) after his statement on the Franken race alluded to other opportunities to serve the state.

Coleman fell to Franken in 2008 by just 312 votes after a months-long recount and court battle. He currently heads the American Action Network, a GOP-aligned issue advocacy group.
