Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is reaching out to younger voters on PolicyMic, saying that the Republican Party needs to adjust to their concerns.
"I filibustered to defend Millennials," he writes, in reference to his talking protest against drone strikes in the United States. "I believe a Republican Party that is more tolerant and dedicated to keeping the government out of people’s lives as much as possible would be more appealing to the rising generation."
The libertarian-leaning lawmaker doesn't list specific policies that would make the GOP more tolerant, saying only that more legislation should be left to the states. But in an interview with National Review Online Tuesday, Paul suggested taking marriage out of the tax code, so that gay couples are not treated differently from straight ones.
Paul will return to the PolicyMic to answer the most popular question in the comments.
