Jeb Bush: W. has ‘become a pretty good painter’

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush weighed in on his brother's artwork in a Friday interview with CNN.

"[H]e's actually become a pretty good painter. I'll just admit that this was a surprise to me when I found this out about a year ago," Bush told Jake Tapper. "And he's doing it with a vengeance. So if you've got a dog, I'm sure, based on your past relationship, he would like to paint it."

Bush first revealed his artworks to the public in February, with a portrait of his Scottish terrier Barney, who had recently died. More Bush paintings, including two self-portraits, were publicized when a hacker broke into family e-mail accounts.

The ex-president's brother also said he admired his sibling for remaining quiet even as President Obama pointed to the Bush administration as the source of many economic problems.

"He's like the most focused, disciplined guy," Jeb Bush said. "To imagine being a former president and not having an opinion on anything over the last four years, anything? I mean, to have that discipline, to be respectful of the president that hasn't been as respectful of him as he should have been, man, I could have never done that."

Republicans debate tonight. The South Carolina GOP primary and the Nevada Democratic caucuses are next on Feb. 20. Get caught up on the race.
The Fix asks The State's political reporter where the most important region of the state is.
He says he could talk about Charleston, which represents a little bit of everything in the state has to offer from evangelicals to libertarians, and where Ted Cruz is raising more money than anywhere else. In a twist, Marco Rubio is drawing strong financial support from more socially conservative Upstate. That said, Donald Trump is bursting all the conventional wisdom in the state. So maybe the better answer to this question is, "Wherever Trump is."
