A spokeswoman for Anthony Weiner's mayoral campaign on Tuesday launched into a vulgar tirade against a former intern who had written bad things about her experience on the campaign.

In an interview with TPM, Weiner spokeswoman Barbara Morgan described intern Olivia Nuzzi using several female-specific vulgarities and threatened to sue Nuzzi for what she had written. The article includes a number of quotes from Morgan ripping Nuzzi, who published her thoughts on a blog and in the New York Daily News.

Morgan explained later that she thought the conversation had been off the record.

"In a moment of frustration, I used inappropriate language in what I thought was an off-the-record conversation," Morgan said in a statement sent to reporters. "It was wrong and I am very sorry, which is what I said tonight when I called and emailed Olivia to apologize."

She later tweeted that it was "not her best day."

Meanwhile, the Weiner campaign is out with a new ad (above) in which the candidate fights back against those calling for him to drop out.

"Quit isn't the way we roll in New York City," Weiner says in the ad.
