Two conservative groups — American Commitment Action Fund and the anti-abortion rights group Susan B. Anthony List — are teaming up for a new online ad that hits New Jersey Senate front-runner Cory Booker (D) on abortion.
The ad is part of about $100,000 that AC Action Fund is spending against Booker — a relatively small buy in a big state, but it's in a race in which not much money has been spent against Booker.
The hard-hitting ad accuses Booker of being even more extreme on abortion than his fellow Democrats, noting his role on the Democratic National Committee's platform committee, which didn't include the words "safe, legal and rare" — as it previously had — in its abortion plank during the 2012 convention.
It also accuses him of supporting taxpayer funding for abortion and late-term abortion, noting the DNC's platform.
AC Action Fund previously ran an ad taking on Booker's record as mayor of Newark. The ad has been viewed more than 140,000 times in the last month.
Booker remains a heavy favorite to become New Jersey's next senator in the Oct. 16 special election.
