New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is up with the first ad of his 2013 reelection campaign — an ad that makes mention of his much-lauded actions in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
After listing off other elements of Christie's record, the narrator says: "And when tragedy struck, he was there every step of the way."
Christie's Sandy response sent his approval rating to rarely seen heights in New Jersey, and his embrace of President Obama in the weeks afterward gave him bipartisan cred, even as it irritated some conservatives.
Christie is heavily favored in his matchup with state Sen. Barbara Buono (D).
