In a release, Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said he will join with Senate GOP leaders Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) and oppose a filibuster of the budget.

"In the House and Senate, I've repeatedly voted to defund, repeal, and delay President Obama's health care law," Blunt said. "I believe there is growing evidence that it will not work."

Blunt continues: "This week, I'll continue that fight by supporting the House-passed continuing resolution, which defunds ObamaCare and keeps the government open without increasing federal spending. I will vote to begin debate on this bill and move to final passage on the House-passed CR."

Blunt said he will oppose an effort by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to restore Obamacare funding to the budget -- something Reid is widely expected to do.

Given Reid needs only 51 votes to accomplish this -- less than the 60-vote standard that Cruz and Defund Obamacare supports wanted -- Cruz has said he will filibuster the bill. GOP leaders worry that strategy risks a government shutdown that Republicans will be blamed for.
