Rep. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) raised more than $1 million for his Senate campaign between July and September, his campaign will announce Friday, roughly tying his Republican opponent.

Peters will announce raising about $1.03 million during the third quarter. His Republican opponent, former secretary of state Terri Lynn Land (R), raised about $1.05 million during the third quarter, and gave her campaign an additional $1 million of her own money.

Peters has $2.5 million in the bank while Land will report more than $2 million.

Peters is the early front-runner to hold the open Senate seat, but Republicans believe they can compete with the likely Democratic nominee.
