Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) will announce late this month whether he will seek reelection in 2014, according to WTVA-TV.
Cochran's plans are one of the last remaining pieces in the 2014 Senate picture.
He has found himself targeted by state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R), who has the backing of a number of national tea party groups, including the Club for Growth and Senate Conservatives Fund.
Cochran, who hasn't had difficult reelection campaigns in recent years, has yet to ramp up his fundraising. He pulled in just $53,000 from July to September and political types in Mississippi think the 75-year-old senator may be headed for the exits.
Regardless of who emerges victorious from the primary, Democrats aren't expected to compete for the seat in deep-red Mississippi.
