SAN FRANCISCO — President Obama, visiting town on a West Coast swing, praised the heroic exploits of the 5-year-old known as Batkid.

Obama noted how pleased he is to be in San Francisco, the great food and the beautiful scenery. He added that there are “no more supervillains because Batkid cleaned up the streets. I love BatKid.”

Batkid, otherwise known as Miles, traveled the city earlier this month as a guest of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Miles has been dealing with leukemia for most of his life.

The Twitter accounts of Obama and other high-ranking politicians cheered him on throughout a series of staged events across the city, and thousands of people turned out to watch him save the day.

Blake reported from Washington.
