Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) has released a new TV ad in which he underscores his Christian faith and declares the Bible to be his "compass."
"I'm not ashamed to say that I believe in God and I believe in his word," Pryor says in the 30-second ad. "The Bible teaches us no one has all the answers. Only God does. And neither political party's always right."
Pryor goes on to emphasize the Bible he is holding in the commercial, saying, "This is my compass, my North Star."
KATV of Little Rock obtained an early copy of the ad, which you can view above.
Pryor is widely viewed as the most vulnerable senator facing reelection in 2014. He faces a challenge from Rep. Tom Cotton, a Republican who enjoys strong support from the GOP establishment as well as the conservative activist wing of the party.
This is not the first time a candidate has released an ad with Christian themes during the holiday season. A 2007 ad from then-presidential candidate Mike Huckabee (R) in which he talked about Christmas drew widespread attention for a bookshelf in the background some saw as a floating cross.
