That's virtually unchanged from the 48 percent who supported legalization in November 2012 and the 46 percent who said the same in both 2010 and 2009.
Support remains up significantly from previous decades, though, when only about one-quarter of Americans supported legalization.
Support for marijuana legalization is higher among younger people, but also among wealthier and more educated people. Fifty-seven percent of Democrats and 50 percent of independents support it, while only 37 percent of Republicans do.
