He is the Democratic governor of Virginia -- and Sunday, the mayor of the J.W. Marriott lobby.
Terry McAuliffe, bottle of water in hand, was having a great time as he made his way from event to event at his first National Governors Association meeting. Just about everywhere he went, McAuliffe was met by congratulations, hugs and requests to pose for pictures.
"I go around myself and talk to everybody," McAuliffe told several Washington Post reporters he encountered.
This may be old hat for his fellow governors, he said. "I'm the new kid on the block, so I go say 'hello' to everybody, introduce myself to everybody."
