Eight in 10 Democrats say they would like to see Hillary Clinton run for president, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll.
The poll shows 82 percent of Democrats want the former secretary of state and first lady to run, while just 13 percent do not.
By contrast, just 42 percent of Democrats want Vice President Biden to run, while 39 percent would prefer that he didn't. In addition, a striking 58 percent of political independents say they don't want Biden to run.
(Polling has previously shown that nearly two-thirds of Americans don't think Biden would make a good president.)
On the GOP side, there is considerable opposition to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie running, with 41 percent saying they don't want him to run and 31 percent saying they do. The four other Republicans tested — Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz — are all in positive territory.
