Sen. John Boozman (R-Ark.) is back in Washington resuming his official duties after emergency heart surgery in late April.

The first-term senator marked his return Monday morning via Twitter and Instagram:

The 63-year-old suffered an aortic aneurysm, or a bulge or "ballooning" in the walls of an artery, and underwent emergency surgery in late April. He had not cast a vote in the U.S. Senate or been in Washington since and skipped his own annual fish fry fundraiser last week. Despite the absence, aides insisted he would be back in Washington soon.
