Mitt Romney talked up North Carolina Republican Senate nominee Thom Tillis Wednesday as a "a man who as secretary of state has demonstrated what he can do to make things happen for the people of this great state."

Trouble is, Tillis is the state House speaker. He's never served as secretary of state.

Video of Romney's flub was captured by the Democratic opposition research group American Bridge 21st Century.

Add it to the list of midterm surrogate miscues, which includes first lady Michelle Obama's "Bruce Bailey" mistake and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) saying Vermont when she meant New Hampshire.
