The president did not provide specific details in the video but did heavily emphasize his "lawful authority as president” and gave a shout out to Congress. "Everybody agrees that our immigration system is broken. Unfortunately Washington has allowed the problem to fester for too long," he says in the video. "So what I'm going to be laying out is the things that I can do with my lawful authority as president to make the system work better even as I continue to work with Congress and encourage them to get a bipartisan comprehensive bill that can solve the entire problem.”
The video first started popping on Facebook and Twitter, a novel social media blast from official White House accounts. Time stamps indicate those posts went out just before 1 p.m. The official White House blog is also publicizing the speech. The time stamp on the blog post says 12:45 p.m.
The video has evidently already had a huge impact.
"So tune in tomorrow night at 8 o'clock," says Obama at the end of the video.
